John has recently retired from a forty-three year volunteer career with the Montrose Search and Rescue Team of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. John has served as one of the team’s Operation’s Leaders for thirty-eight of those forty-three years. In addition, he has served as team secretary, quartermaster, and training officer all while rising through the ranks to reserve captain, a title he held for six years. John was one of the founding members of the Los County Sheriff’s Department Underground Search and Rescue Team, and most recently the Chairman of that team. Professionally, John is a project manager and safety director for a general contractor in the Southern California area, specializing in commercial and industrial projects. In his free time, John enjoys SCUBA diving, camping, hunting, sporting clays, and a great round of golf with his lovely wife.
When asked what John likes about teaching CMC classes, he said: “Helping newcomers to the rescue world build sold foundational skill sets to be able to effect real work rescues. Introducing new equipment and techniques to experienced rescuers.”
