CMC T95 is our lightweight, low-volume 9.5 mm NFPA Technical Use rope, purpose-built for demanding technical operations and backcountry rescue. Its Technora sheath and nylon core provide superior heat and abrasion resistance, low elongation, and smooth handling – making it ideal for harsh conditions, long spans, and minimalist systems. Designed with sewn terminations for secure, knotless connections, T95 reduces operational risk in stressful situations, in low light, and with less experienced personnel.

Tested extensively by instructors, students, and field experts, T95 consistently delivers exceptional performance in challenging environments. It works seamlessly with aramid friction hitches and lightweight hardware, and is available with two distinct tracer colors to simplify communication and keep systems organized. Whether for response, tactical, or REMS operations, T95 combines durability, strength, and control in a rope designed to meet the toughest demands.

Sewn Terminations:

Sewn terminations on T95 offer a clear advantage in technical operations. They provide quick, secure, high-strength connections without the variability of a user-tied knot – making system setup faster, reducing potential points of error, and delivering significantly stronger performance in small-diameter rope (knots have been shown to reduce rope strength by up to 50%). By eliminating the need to tie and dress knots, sewn terminations reduce the cognitive load on rescuers, helping them work faster and with greater confidence in low light or high-stress situations.

Field evaluations and independent user reviews consistently favored sewn terminations, noting their efficiency and reliability in demanding environments. While they may not suit activities like canyoneering – where rappelling off the rope end or pulling rope through tight hardware is common – these scenarios did not present issues in rescue testing. In practice, we recommend connecting the sewn termination to the system with a carabiner or screw link, switching to a knot only in rare cases such as passing through a knot-pass pulley.

From the Field:

“Our team performs rescues in very remote areas that may require longer hike-ins or insertion by helicopter, so weight is a huge consideration. Gear with good strength to weight ratio is very much preferred by our rescuers. This rope fits the bill for remote mountain rescue, cave rescue, and other austere environments.”
