Introducing the Outback Convertible Harness, a lightweight modular system for fast-moving technical teams in remote areas. Named for the rugged terrain where it thrives, the Outback is the result of feedback we collected from backcountry users around the world.
Certified to EN and ASTM standards, the Outback meets the strength requirements for a versatile mountaineering harness. Its patent-pending modular system lets users configure the harness based on the task at hand and share components interchangeably in the field.
The components include:
-The Waist Belt
-The Leg Loop Assembly
-The Chest Harness
-The Chest Ascender Kit
-And The Carry Pouch
The Waist Belt is easily donned and sized to fit through most belt loops. It’s compatible with a number of Molle attachments and can be worn from the onset to the end of each mission.
The Leg Loops are quickly added without opening the belt. This proprietary system creates a stable sit harness that maintains its position on the body. The aluminum D-Ring offers greater durability than fabric attachment points and can fit multiple connections without risk of cross loading.
The Chest Harness is universally sized and rapidly integrated without opening the waistbelt. It provides additional comfort, security, and features for rope work like the sternal attachment point that supports backup systems or helicopter operations. Using CMC’s Chest Ascender Kit, a mini-ascender can be installed on the front lift for vertical mobility and hands-free positioning.
The Carry Pouch is compact, water-resistant and molle compatible with velcro straps that attach to backpacks or the Waist Belt itself. Each side of the Pouch has a gear loop to easily access equipment.
The Outback Convertible Harness System supports a fast and light approach to technical backcountry missions. It’s globally certified, highly configurable, and fully-featured for challenging mountain operations.
