The CLUTCH™ is designed to provide safe rope slip in overload situations. To assess the point of slip across a wide variety of industry ropes, the device was anchored, and various ropes were pulled through the device at a rate of ~15 cm/min.
Across the nine 12.5-13 mm industry ropes tested, the 13 mm CLUTCH achieved safe and reliable slip between 4.59 kN and 11.15 kN.
In all cases, no visible damage to the rope or device was observed as a result of the slip event.

For each rope type, a minimum of two samples from a single lot of new rope was tested in a controlled laboratory environment.
CLUTCH slip behavior is influenced by many factors including lot-to-lot rope variability, variation in rope diameter, rope and device wear, environmental conditions, etc.
